Have you ever felt like you're living someone else's life, making decisions that don't align with who you indeed are? In a world filled with external expectations and societal pressures, losing touch with our authentic selves is easy. But what if there was a way to reconnect with your true nature, understand your unique strengths, and make decisions that lead to greater fulfilment? Enter Human Design.
Human Design is a powerful system that combines astrology, the I Ching, Kabbalah, and the chakra system to create a blueprint of your unique energy. This blueprint offers deep insights into your personality, decision-making process, and life purpose. By integrating Human Design into your life, you can start living in alignment with your true self, leading to greater ease, satisfaction, and joy.
What is Human Design?
Human Design is often described as a "roadmap to your soul." It provides a detailed BodyGraph chart based on your birth date, time, and place. This chart reveals your energy type, authority, centres, and profile, each offering specific insights into how you are designed to navigate life.
At its core, Human Design is about understanding and embracing your unique nature. Rather than trying to fit into a mould that doesn't suit you, Human Design encourages you to live in a way aligned with who you are. This alignment leads to more flow and less resistance in your life.

or unconventional it may seem." — Christina Longley
The Five Energy Types
One of the foundational aspects of Human Design is understanding your energy type. There are five energy types, each with its way of interacting with the world:
- Manifestors: Innovators and initiators who are here to bring new ideas into the world. Manifestors are designed to take action and lead but thrive when they inform others before initiating.
- Generators: The planet's life force. They are here to build and create. They have a sustainable energy source designed to respond to life's opportunities rather than initiate them.
- Manifesting Generators: A hybrid of Manifestors and Generators, Manifesting Generators have the energy to build and create like Generators but also have the initiating power of Manifestors. They are multi-passionate and thrive when they allow themselves to follow what excites them.
- Projectors: Guides and leaders. They are here to manage and direct the energy of others. They are not designed to work in the traditional sense but thrive when recognized and invited into roles where they can offer their wisdom.
- Reflectors: The mirrors of society; Reflectors are here to reflect the health and well-being of their communities. They are susceptible and need an entire lunar cycle (28 days) to make decisions.
Understanding your energy type is the first step in living your Human Design. It helps you recognize how you are meant to interact with the world and make decisions that align with your natural energy flow.
Embracing Your Strategy and Authority
In Human Design, your strategy and authority are the keys to making decisions that align with your true self. Your strategy is how you are designed to interact with the world, while your authority is your inner compass for making decisions.
For example, if you're a Generator, your strategy is to respond. This means you're designed to wait for opportunities to come to you rather than chasing after them. Your authority, on the other hand, might be emotional, sacral, or splenic, depending on your chart. If you have emotional authority, you're designed to wait out your emotional wave before making decisions. You're designed to listen to your gut response if you have sacral authority.
By following your strategy and authority, you can begin to make decisions that feel right for you, leading to greater ease and less resistance.

circumstances; you are a master of your destiny." — Ra Uru Hu
The Power of Centres
Your Human Design chart consists of nine centres, each representing different aspects of your being. These centres can be defined (coloured in) or undefined (white), and their state offers insights into how you process energy.
- Defined Centres: Areas where you have consistent energy and where you project your energy into the world. These centres represent your strengths and areas where you can rely on yourself.
- Undefined Centres: Areas where you are open to external influences and may feel more sensitive to conditioning. These centres represent areas where you have the potential to gain wisdom through life experiences.
Understanding your defined and undefined centres can help you recognize where you are strong and might be vulnerable to outside influences. This awareness allows you to make more aligned choices with your true self rather than reacting to external pressures.
Living Your Profile
Your Human Design profile is a combination of two numbers (e.g., 3/5 or 4/6) that represent your personality traits and life path. These numbers correspond to specific roles or archetypes that you play in life.
For example:
- 1/3 Profile: The Investigator/Martyr who is here to deeply understand life's details and learn through trial and error.
- 2/4 Profile: The Hermit/Opportunist who needs time alone to recharge and naturally attracts opportunities through their network.
- 6/2 Profile: The Role Model/Hermit who spends the first part of life experimenting and the latter half sharing wisdom with others.
Living in alignment with your profile helps you understand the themes and patterns in your life, offering a clearer sense of purpose and direction.
Integrating Human Design Into Your Daily Life
So, how do you begin to integrate Human Design into your daily life? Here are some practical steps:
- Start with Self-Awareness: Familiarise yourself with your Human Design chart. Understand your type, strategy, authority, centres, and profile. Reflect on how these aspects show up in your life.
- Experiment with Your Strategy and Authority: Test living according to your strategy and authority. Notice how decision-making feels when you follow your natural design versus when you don't. This practice can lead to profound shifts in how you experience life.
- Observe Your Centres: Pay attention to how your defined and undefined centres operate. Where do you feel consistent energy? Where do you feel influenced by others? This awareness can help you navigate your interactions more consciously.
- Embrace Your Profile: Reflect on your profile and how it shapes your life experiences. Are there patterns that make more sense now? How can you lean into your strengths and accept challenges as part of your unique path?
- Connect with a Human Design Community: Learning and experimenting with Human Design can be enhanced by connecting with others on a similar path. Consider joining a study group or finding a mentor to guide you.
A Journey of Self-Discovery
Integrating Human Design into your life is not about changing who you are but about discovering and embracing your true self. As you align with your natural design, you'll find that life flows more easily, decisions feel clearer, and your relationships become more fulfilling.
Human Design offers a roadmap to living authentically—a way to navigate life's challenges with greater self-awareness and confidence. You can create a life that aligns with your true self by honouring your unique energy.
Remember, Human Design is a journey, not a destination. It's about experimenting, learning, and becoming the person you were always meant to be. As you continue to explore your design, you'll uncover new layers of yourself and deepen your understanding of living authentically.
